Library and Information Systems

MANDATE
The BAC Library mission is to support research, teaching and learning by ensuring the provision of quality information products and services which enable our clients to leverage their academic and professional performance. The library has adopted the following strategic goals:

  • Develop a focused, core collection of print and electronic resources to support instructional and research needs.
  • Improve the quality and relevance of the collection by systematically assessing the information resources needs of the academic community
  • Enhance access to information resources by utilizing information communication technologies.
  • Provide a comprehensive bibliographic instruction program in order to graduate students with information literacy competencies.

SUPPORT PROGRAMS PROVIDED TO STUDENTS
INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM
The information literacy program develops 21st century information and technology competencies in students; and research skills for lifelong learning. Information literate students are able to find, evaluate and use information effectively to solve problems and make decisions.

CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICE
Through social media, students are informed of newly acquired resources and services.


SELECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION
The library circulates current publications to academics on their areas of interest. This service ensures regular alerts on new information on their chosen topics.
